How to start the conversation about psychology PhD programs

Conversations with people in your life about going to graduate school and pursuing a PhD are important. This can be challenging when you yourself are just learning about the process. You might want to talk with a family member about why you are applying to graduate school and not starting a job or going to professional school, or why you want to study psychology and not another topic.  Here we provide some information about what studying psychology could entail. This is far from an exhaustive list or representative of everyone’s experience, and we encourage you to look at different resources (on the Yale website and elsewhere). Hopefully this could help get the conversation started.
