Congratulations to Yale Psychology faculty member Julian Jara-Ettinger, who has been selected as a recipient of the 2026 American Psychological Association (APA) Distinguished Scientific Award for Early Career Contributions to Psychology in the area of cognition and human learning.
Julián’s research focuses on the representations and computations that enable humans to understand one another’s minds. His lab studies social phenomena such as fairness, communication, gesture, moral reasoning, and pedagogy, using an interdisciplinary approach that includes computational modeling, eye‑tracking, cross‑cultural research, and developmental studies.
Created in 1974, the APA Distinguished Scientific Award for Early Career Contributions to Psychology recognizes “excellent psychologists who are at early stages of their research careers.” For more information, see the APA’s page here.
