Dr. Siemer’s research focuses on the interaction of cognitions with moods and emotions. This includes (a) the cognitive antecedents and consequences of moods and emotions and (b) individual differences in the use and the effectiveness of cognitive mood and emotion regulation strategies. Dr. Siemer’s research also explores the implications of these differences for more applied fields, such as the underlying mechanisms of resiliency and affective disorders. His empirical research integrates psychological sub-disciplines like cognitive psychology, social psychology, personality research, psychophysiology, and clinical psychology.
